How To Garden in Microclimates

The Sun shifts in its arc around the earth at different times of the year. If you are in the Northern Hemisphere we are moving into the Fall Equinox right now. This means the sun isn’t at its extreme like it is in the Summer or Winter.

When we are in the Fall Equinox the shadows get longer which gives your plants less sunlight than they are used to. Understanding Microclimates is very important to know when the sun is shifting.

The following Microclimates are best for your Fall garden because they will get light.

A. Microclimate Zone A is along the North and West Walls where they get Morning Sun and Afternoon Shade. This area is great for herbs and heat-sensitive plants.

B. Microclimate Zone B is along the North Wall where they get Morning and Afternoon Sun. This is the traditional growing location.

C. Microclimate Zone C is along the North and East Walls where they get Morning Shade and HOT Afternoon Sun. This is a great place to extend your Fall Harvest.

So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and get started on your Fall Harvest.
